Saturday May 16th
This week we welcomed aboard a Group from California USA on the Kona Aggressor ll. We picked everyone up from the Kona Pier Saturday evening and headed out to the mooring for dinner and a briefing. We came up with a plan for the week and headed to bed so we could be bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning.
Sunday May 17th
The Kona Aggressor ll headed south to Meadows for the first two dives. The group did a check out dive and was ready to see some critters. The highlights of the dive were a Green Turtle, White Mouth Moray, Multi banded Butter Fly Fish, Bird Wrasse Super Male, Puffer and a Gold Laced Nudibranch. While Having a delicious meal we headed further south to Lions Den for dive number three. The talk on the dive deck after was of a Dragon Wrasse, Leaf Scorpion Fish, and a Spanish Rose, and a Turtle. Next, We headed to the Hive for our last two dives of the day. Our guest really enjoyed the cave and recalled seeing Reticulated Butter Fly Fish, Spanish Rose, Sail Fin Tangs, Long Nose Butter Fly Fish ( black Phase), Bandit Angel Fish, Titan Scorpion Fish and a White Tip Reef Shark. On the night dive the highlight were Conger Eel, Decoy Scorpion Fish, Red Reef Lobster, and Sculptured Slipper Lobster.
Monday May 18th
The Kona Aggressor ll headed north to Au Au Crater. The highlights of the dive were two sets of Tinkers Butter Fly Fish and a Giant Titan Scorpion Fish. During a delicious lunch we found our final spot for the day, Manta Ville. This was the location for the last dives of the day. The highlight of the dive was a Giant moray Eel, Leaf Scorpion Fish, and a Manta. The Manta dive was a big hit as our guests were almost the only divers and got the Mantas almost to themselves.
Tuesday May 19th
After a good nights sleep the Kona Aggressor II headed back north to Turtle Pinnacle for the first two dives. Lucky we did as we got to see and snorkel with Spinner Dolphins along with seeing Yellow Margin Moray, Strawberry Nudibranch, Dragon Wrasse, Viper Moray, and a Turtle. Next, We headed to Garden Eel Cove where our guest recalled seeing Reticulated Butter Fly fish, Porcupine Puffer Fish, White Patch Razor Wrasse, Hawaiian Knife Fish, and a Turtle and Mantas on the last two dives. The night dive had one of the best shows Ive seen in a long time!!!
Wednesday May 20th
After a restful night on our Kona Mooring it was back south to Amphitheater for dives one and two. Some highlights were a White Margin Nudibranch, Red Reef Lobster, Sculptured Slipper Lobster, and a Turtle. Next, We headed further south to Robs Reef for the remainder of the day. During the day dives our guest got to see Bourdailes Shrimp, Flowery Flounder, Turtles, and a Hammer Head Shark! On the night dive they got a private Manta show from one lone Manta!!!
Thursday May 21st
Early in the morning the Kona Aggressor ll went in search of whales and got lucky and found Pilot whales! After whale watching we headed to Paradise Pinnacle for our first two dives. The talk on the dive deck after was of a Flag Tail Tile Fish, Conger Eel, Red Stripe Pipe Fish, Octopus, Spotted Box Fish, Viper Moray and a Long Fin Anthia. During a relaxing lunch we made our way to the Dome for dive three where the highlights were a Yellow Margin Moray and a battle between a Horned Helmet and a Collector Urchin. Next, We moved to Driftwood where are guest enjoyed swimming through the Lava Tube and viewing Cowries, Flame Back Shrimp, Orange Mouth Lizard Fish, and a Viper Moray. For the night dive it was decided by vote an was Pelagic Magic where the talk after was of a Crystal Spider, Venus Girdle, and Pelagic Squid !
Friday May 22nd
The Kona Aggressor ll headed to Old Airport for dive one and were in Nudibranch heaven with a Fried Egg Nudibranch, Strawberry Nudibranch, and Tom Smith Nudibranch. Next, We Headed to the wreck of the Predator where the talk after was of a Whitlelys Box Fish and for others was viewing tourist in the Atlantis Submarine!
Saturday May 23rd
We droped our guest off at the pier in Kona and said our farewells to our new friends from California USA this week. Congratulation to our Iron Divers Rory, Robin and Wally and congratulations on making dive one hundred Cindy. Thanks again for the awesome week we had a lot of fun with you aboard the Kona Aggressor ll. We hope to see you again soon!
