…18 Divers joined us aboard the beautiful Belize Aggressor III. Guests began the boarding process around 3:00PM. Scuba equipment setup and each guest shown to their cabins. We had our welcome aboard briefing and champagne toast at 5:30PM.
Sunday December 6th
…We started off the week near the Southern tip of Turneffe Islands Atoll. Tucked in nicely and ready to make the splash at Front Porch and Black Beauty. Sitings included the endemic white spotted toadfish, a few spotted moray & green moray eels, spotted eagle rays near the wall, and lots of interesting reef fish were seen during the day. For the night dive - octopus, squid, big lobster, channel crabs, and basket stars were out feeding.
Monday December 7th
…The weather working in our favor, we were able to dive the famous Elbow for the morning and then motoring North along Turneffe to Grand Bogue to finish out the day. Sitings were a plenty - groupers, schools of creole wrasse, turtles, eagle rays, southern stingrays, a few varieties of nidi-branch, and of course that spotted toadfish.
Tuesday December 8th
…We awoke to Lighthouse Reef Atoll and good weather, so we motored up to the Great Blue Hole. Nice visibility at depth during the dive, 30 minutes, then back aboard for some shopping!!! The boutique was open for cool rash guards, fun David Dunlevy shirts, and even swim trunks. Before lunch the guests went for a stroll around the Island of Half Moon Caye - a Belize Audubon Society nesting ground for the Red Footed Boobie and Magnificent Frigate birds. After a delicious lunch the afternoon diving began at Half Moon Caye Wall. Sitings included southern stingrays, hundreds of garden eels, hermit crabs, a nurse shark, schools of midnight parrot fish, silver sides in the caves, a hawks bill turtle, red flame box crab, sharp tail snake eel and even a pipe horse.
Wednesday December 9th
…Another great day of weather and diving. We made two dives on Chain Wall. A couple caribbean reef sharks, turtle, pipefish, scrawled filefish, slender filefish, and a big eagle ray passed by. For the afternoon and night dive, we checked out the swim-throughs and caves at Tarpon Caves. One cave was loaded out with schools of silver sides, the other referred to as the “Chimney” starts at 40FT and drops out at the wall in 100FT - very cool. Sitings included southern stingrays, blue parrot fish, patrolling sharks, neck crabs, and of course Tarpon beneath the dive ladders.
Thursday December 10th
…The winds switched a bit, so we headed over to the Long Caye area of Lighthouse Reef. The diving was very good as was the visibility. Sitings included a free swimming green moray eel, nurse shark, eagle ray, schools of Bermuda chub & sergeant majors, nudi-branch, hundreds of moon jellyfish, and schools of barracuda where seen along the wall.
Friday December 11th
…With winds a light breeze and seas flat calm we finished the week at Turneffe Islands Atoll. The last dive ended with a big yellow sea horse making for a spectacular week of diving. A couple guests went site seeing at the Belize Zoo, while others lounged until our cocktail party at 6PM.
…Congratulations to the following divers:
