Dive Sites: Sandy Slope & Long Caye Ridge
Our first stop was at Sandy Slope on Turneffe Atoll, before doing the crossing to Lighthouse Reef Atoll. We did a quick buoyancy check and then went to explore down below. On the first day, we saw Eagle rays, hawksbill turtles, several morays, a baby octopus, garden eels, jaw fish, groupers, Creole wrasse, barracuda, lobster, slender filefish, flamingo tongue, and a squadron of tarpon.

Dive Sites: Nurse Shark Ridge & Painted wall
The moray sightings continued, with several green morays moving around on top of the reef. As we looked in the sea plumes, gorgonians, and other soft corals, we found neck crabs, hammer’s tritonia nudibranch, slender filefish, and arrow blennies. There was an adult spotted drum, swimming in a figure 8 pattern, and trumpet fish hunting for a meal. There were also some cleaning stations and beautiful sponges. Toward the end of the dive, we saw 2 sailfin blennies fighting in the sand as a lizardfish looked on.

Dive Sites: Blue Hole & Silver Caves
Today we visited the world famous Blue Hole, a Natural Monument and World Heritage Site. This guided dive took us to the depths below to observe massive stalactite formations that are thousands of years old. On the night diver we found slipper lobster, octopus, squid, and several nudibranchs.

On Tuesday, we saw more Sharks, turtles, and eels. We also found neck crabs, flamingo tongues, hammer’s tritonia, tarpon, octopus, and squid, hundreds of yellow tails, juvenile drum, and scorpion fish. On the night dive a pair of Caribbean Reef sharks came around beneath the boat.

Dive Sites: Eagle Ray Pass & Silver Caves
Thursday some of our guests got to swim with turtles. Once again the green morays were out and about and we also ran across a couple spotted morays tucked under rocks. We found a white spotted seahare in the shallows, as well as an octopus on mooring. The art of spotting neck crabs has now been mastered, and we found a tiny yellow slug with a red spot.

Dive Site: Quebrada & Sayonara
For the last dives, we got to say farewell to a couple turtles and some green morays. It was also interesting to see the transition from night to day as we did the early morning dive.
On the drive in, we saw 2 loggerhead turtles on the surface, and then we ran across a bait ball. We could see sharks below from the boat.
Congrats to Samantha and Marion on becoming Nitrox certified.
Congrats to Denee, Meg, Chuck, Amanda, Simon, Rory, and Lucky for doing all the dives this week and becoming our newest IRON DIVERS!
Thank you all for a great week and Hope to see you again soon.
