…17 divers joined us aboard the Belize Aggressor III. Guests began the boarding process after 3:00PM. Each guest setup SCUBA gear and shown to their cabins. We had our welcome aboard briefing and champagne toast at 5:30PM.
Sunday April 17th
…We began our week of diving on Long Caye Ridge at Lighthouse Reef Atoll. Encounters included eagle rays, green moray eels, small hawks bill turtles and an abundance of blue tangs schooling on top of the reef near the wall. The afternoon dives were equally good.
Monday April 18th
…Painted Wall one of my favorites with awesome rope, elephant ear, barrel, azure vase, & yellow tube sponges decorating the shear wall beginning at 30 feet and dropping to well over 1000 feet! Long Caye Wall was the afternoon and night dive spot, with plenty of action. An old loggerhead turtle passed overhead as well as a few spotted eagle rays. A nurse shark was seen and schools of horse eye jack used the vessel as shade from the sun.
Tuesday April 19th
…Clear skies and a cool morning made the decision easy the Great Blue Hole. Some divers having dove the Blue Hole before decided to stay shallow and enjoy the coral reef surrounding the hole. For the afternoon and night dive we checked out Half Moon Caye Wall. Nice critter encounters like decorator crabs, Spanish slipper lobster, pederson cleaning shrimp, mantis shrimp, and yellow lined arrow crabs.
Wednesday April 20th
…Chain Wall had excitement - shark and eagle ray encounters, resident great barracuda hovering between the sand channels, a big rainbow parrot fish, and lots of southern stingrays in the sand areas were just a few of the sitings. For the afternoon we motored back around to the West side of Long Caye to finish out the day of diving on Silver Caves. Tarpon, nassau grouper, extremely large loggerhead turtle, and a couple flounders were seen.
Thursday April 21st
…The winds lightened a little, so we took advantage and made a few dives at Tarpon Caves, then motored over to Grand Bogue. Beautiful dives with plenty of everything from eagle rays, to sharks to schools of creole wrasse, to picturesque sponges made for a great day of diving. After the night dive and dinner, we motored to the Southern end of Turneffe to finish the week.
Friday April 22nd
…Black Beauty was the final stop for the week - more great diving!!! Once we arrived port, a few guests went on a River Tour to see Manatees, Crocodiles, Monkeys, and Birds. The other guests relaxed until our cocktail party at 6:00PM and a little award presentation for the following divers:
Iron Divers - Terry, Ulf, Jason, Sonia
PADI Enriched Air Diver - Aravind
Saturday April 23rd
…Well that’s the week folks and at 8:00AM the crew said their good byes as the guests departed the Beautiful Belize Aggressor III.
EAT, SLEEP, & DIVE!
