This week we happily & eagerly greeted our new family members from USA, Uk, Germany, Holland, and Russia, a total of 19 guests on board, including Kay and diane which attended our latest Northern itinerary trip. After a welcome drink and being showed to their cabins everyone gathered in the dining area for the general boat briefing and introduction of the crew, while munching on our chefs exquisite mini pizzas and assortment of seasonal fruit. After setting up equipment and finishing some paperwork, they were free to visit the very mystical Port Ghalib at sunset hours. After our steak dinner it was time for a glass of local wine & off to bed.
Sunday 23th of October
Day 1 started in Port Ghalib and continued in Marsa Shoona and Abu Wesl . Ring bells at 7 am. Sun shines in Port Ghalib . At 9 am we leave the harbour and start the Southern itinerary trip .
Marsa shoona is the first destination of our diving cruise . We plan to spend 2 dives here .. Boat to boat dives to check buoyancy and diving equipment . We enjoy a large garden of fire corals, lion and pipe fishes, glassfish and goat fishes, masked butterfly fishes, blue spotted stingrays and puffer fishes but most of all the amazing spot of the Frog Fish . After the dive we sail to Abu Wesl. A Beautiful coral garden with mountain, dome and mushroom corals .The night dive offer us the chance to spot different kinds of shrimps, crabs, feather stars and even a Spanish Dancer . Time for dinner and at night we sail southern and reach the remote and pristine reefs of Daedalus reef . We score 4 dives.
Monday 24th of September
Day 2 started in Daedalus Reef . We sail all night to reach the offshore reef of Daedalus reef 90 miles away from the coastline of Marsa alam. Sky is crystal clear, wind blows at approximately 12 nods . The early morning and late morning dive are located in the North Plateau. Zodiac to zodiac dive . We descent along the wall and dive with 6 hammerhead sharks . They swim wildly below and above us . We then reach the colorful wall and dive with a large school of barracuda, black snapper and red sea groupers . The early afternoon dive is located at the anemone city where a large colony of clown fish guards their anemones . The fourth dive is located South along the South Plateau of Daedalus reef . We score 4 dives today.
Tuesday 25th of September
Day 3 started in Small Gota and continued in St.Johns Cave and Paradise Reef . We sail all night to reach the offshore reefs of St. Johns . The first diving location of the day is Small Gota . A boat to boat dive to explore the drop off walls of the reef with large formations of black and fan coral and colorful soft corals. Time to reach the reef of St. Johns Cave, which offers one of the most beautiful dive of the entire itinerary . We dive around the colorful swim-through filled with fan and orange soft corals . Time for lunch and we anchor in Paradise reef . A beautiful and colourful dive around tall pinnacles of corals, a large coral garden and a breath-taking swim trough . We score 4 dives today including a night dive .
Wednesday 26th of October
Day 4 started in Shaab Maksur and continued in Shaab Claudia and Gota Soraya . We sail 5 hours at night to sail early in the morning the offshore reef of Shaab Maksur . There is an intense current along the reef and the early morning dive is a drift dive along the est wall and ending in the south Plateau. We enjoy a couple of large pinnacles of corals . The 2nd dive of the day is located in Shaab Claudia also called “The cathedral of light”. School of burgundy soldier fishes, golden glass fishes and blue spotted stingrays and the incredible scenario of cave diving and beams of light. Time for lunch and we visit the Dolphin House and swim for one hour with a large pod of dolphins . We score 3 dives today including a late afternoon dive in Gota Sataya. The night dive is cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
Thursday 27th of September
Day 5 started in Shaab Sharm .
Ring bells at 6 am and we anchor in the large and outstanding offshore reef of Shaab Sharm, 10 miles away from the city of Marsa Alam . The first dive is a zodiac to zodiac dive along the east wall and south plateau of the reef . We descent along the wall and gently drift . We contemplate giant fan corals and purple and lavender soft corals.. We finally land in the south plateau and continue the dive along the wall . A turtle is busy eating a broccoli soft corals. The second dive is a zodiac to zodiac dive along the North/East wall . The wall hosts a large variety of hard corals, schools of banner red sea, black snappers, red sea groupers, moray eels and sea slugs . Time for lunch and we sail to Gota Marsa Alam . The afternoon and night dive are located in Gota Marsa alam with a large garden of corals and tall and colorful pinnacles . We score 4 dives today including a night dive.
Friday 28h of September
Day 6 started in Elphinstone Reef . Early in the morning we reach the offshore reef of Elphinstone, 5 miles away from the coastline of Marsa Alam . Wind blows at 15 nods and the bell rings at 6 am . We plan 2 dives here, both of them at the south plateau . There are rumours the white tip oceanic sharks are in the area. Visibility is crystal clear . We descent along the east wall and then land into the south plateau .A beautiful scenery with colorful soft and hard corals, clouds of anthias and school of sardines . Finally 2 white tip oceanic sharks approach our group of divers. Time for lunch and sail back to Port Ghalib . At 3:30 pm we arrive at the Marina . At 6 pm it is time for our Cocktail Party and celebrate our Diving Trip and the Iron Divers .
