Dive Sites: Lighthouse Wall & Julie’s Jungle
Our week of diving started with great weather and exciting dives. One of the first things we saw on our check out dive was a Great Hammerhead shark. There was also a huge Eagle Ray and several Caribbean reefs sharks that showed up. Lobsters littered the wall and Nassau groupers tailed the group.

Dive Sites: Inspiration & Half Moon Caye Wall
Today we lost count of how many lettuce sea slugs we found. Another thing that was in abundance was spotted drums. A friendly black grouper came to check us out and a spotted moray stared at us from below. We found a Southern stingray sleeping in the sand and were sure not to disturb its nap. Garden eels littered the sandy bottom and razor fish hovered around. Also, we saw several very impressive barracudas.

Drift Dives: Angelfish Wall to Half Moon Caye Wall to Lighthouse Wall
Dive Site: Long Caye Ridge
Today we had a swift current, so we decided to do some drift diving. It was an exciting day, with Caribbean Reef sharks swimming along as we drifted along Half Moon Caye. We had some awesome encounters as the sharks circled and swam up to get their pictures taken. There were also sightings of green and hawksbill turtles and countless Nassau and black groupers.

Dive Sites: Blue Hole & Long Caye Wall
This morning we started off with a dive at the Great Blue Hole. After our dive, we headed over to Half Moon Caye Natural Monument for an island excursion to check out the nesting grounds for loggerhead, hawksbill, and green turtles…as well as the nesting grounds for the Red footed booby bird and the magnificent Frigate bird.
For the afternoon and night dives, we went over to Long Caye Wall, where we got to dive with a friendly hawksbill, saw some Caribbean reef sharks, groupers, barracudas, green morays, and found a pair of octopus that were courting.

Dive Sites: Chain Wall & Silver Caves
Today was shark day! We had some great shark sightings on chain wall. We also saw Eagle rays, Southern stingrays, and hawksbill turtles. At Silver caves, we went on a macro dive, but along with seahorses, neck crabs, scorpion fish, wire coral shrimp, Pederson shrimp, slender filefish, and skeleton shrimp, we also saw Caribbean reef sharks, a hawksbill turtle, and had an Eagle ray swim right under the divers.

Dive Site: Sandy Slope
Our final dives of the week were at beautiful Sandy Slope on the West side of Turneffe Atoll. We saw schools of mahogany snappers, groupers, grunts, Creole wrasse, and bar jacks. There were also loads of lobsters along the wall. We found several morays…green and spotted, as well as a golden tail moray. We also found some Southern stingrays, garden eels, and yellow head jawfish in the sand.
