Dive Sites: Sandy Slope & Julie’s Jungle
We started our week at Sandy Slope on Turneffe Atoll. After doing our check out and getting everyone weighted properly, we descended below to explore our underwater world. Some sightings included a pipehorse, a black and white nudibranch, several green and spotted morays, flounder, and numerous schools of fish, such as Creole wrasse, bar jacks, horse eye jacks, mahogany snappers, grunts, blue chromis, and even barracuda. At our afternoon sight, Julie’s Jungle, on Lighthouse reef, we also saw a lot of barracuda and eels. We also admired the massive sponges, beautiful soft coral, and schools of fish.

Dive Sites: Silver Caves & Long Caye Wall
On Monday morning, we had some fantastic dives at Silver Caves and Long Caye Wall. We found a scorpionfish next to lettuce sea slug, several neck crabs and skeleton shrimp, a lobster crawling on wall, a moray out swimming along the wall, several Caribbean Reef sharks, a massive loggerhead, another scorpionfish, more lettuce sea slugs, another moray, tarpon, and lots more sharks later on in the day.

Dive Sites: Painted Wall & Long Caye Ridge
Tuesday started with some exciting dives at Painted Wall, and then at Long Caye Ridge. One of the first things we saw on the morning dives were 3 eagle rays swimming together in formation, then they stopped and did circles below the divers…AWESOME! We also had a cool encounter with a friendly hawksbill turtle. On the reef, we found a huge lobster, and several other lobsters that would easily feed everyone on board. We watched jawfish, spiny head blennies, trumpetfish, indigo hamlets, and numerous other fish found on the reefs. Off the wall a blacktip shark cruised past everyone.

Dive Sites: Nurse Shark Ridge & Half Moon Caye Wall
We decided to dive at Nurse Shark Ridege and Half Moon Caye Wall on Wednesday. And eventhough we didn’t find a nurse shark at Nurse Shark Ridge, and it there wasn’t a half moon out when we were at Half Moon Caye Wall, we did see a lot of cool stuff including a Pipehorse, flounder, southern stingrays, hawksbill turtles, spotted moray, green moray, groupers, garden eels, razor fish, and flapping dingbats.

We returned to Long Caye Wall for our pre-breakfast dive, then headed over to Turneffe to finish the week at Black Beauty. We had two amazing dives, with sightings of green morays out swimming, hawksbill turtles feeding, Southern stingrays, scorpionfish, gangs of barracuda and tarpon, and hundreds of Creole wrasse swarming around.
