We started around 15:00h our sailing towards Cocos Island and as soon as we were in open ocean we felt the strong conditions, normal on this time of the year.
We could see their excitement and enthusiasm to get to Cocos Island, and on the way, we had a beautiful humpback whale jumping next to Okeanos.
This week our guests come from two european countries :Germany and Russia. We split them into two teams and we had our check out dive at Chatam Bay ….It was really nice and colorful ,we saw many different species of fish , lobsters and tons of marble rays but the most important of this dive is to check that all dive equipment is working perfectly well and to adjust our weight for a great buoyancy during the week.
Always amazing dive site. Its just a perfect two minutes boat ride from Chattam Bay . On this dive, the water conditions were the BEST… visibility was very good ,no current , and as soon as we descended directly to the cleaning station we felt surrounded by the wildness of coco`s marine life ,,,we saw many hammerheads ,a black tip ,marble rays by dozens, eagLe rays, yellow fin tunas ,and a green turtle next to a huge tiger shark. Everybody was very happy with our first day in diving paradise. It was fantastic and during dinner , guests talked about the day of diving , all very excited for the next diving day.
Manuelita the Channel
It has become the perfect place for tiger shark encounters on the afternoon dives. This time right off the boat we saw a juvenile swimming near the surface towards the shallow area.
Minutes later two eagle rays passed by we decide to follow them and what a surprise the pregnant tiger shark was gently hanging against the current it’s was hard for us to stay in the same place but seemed to be really easy for her because she barely was moving its tail , just awesome!
The west part of the island was easy to get during the Dive at Small Dos Amigos and we enjoyed some Galapagos sharks around the cleaning station but the most interesting was when we moved to the right side of the rock in that corner and then we saw hundreds HAMMERHEAD SHARKS really close and for as long as we stayed underwater. Many guests described this dive as the best dive of their lives.
Easy boat ride but rain started since we jumped on the dinghy . We used the rope to descend straight to the bottom and in few minutes we noticed many hammerheads coming from the deep in big schools and at the same we listened the beautiful sound of the dolphins , everyone looked around and surprisingly they came close to divers and seemed to be playing in the middle of the group .Good show that went for about 5 amazing and breathtaking minutes.
Even we told the divers that this wouldn’t be a shark dive , this site surprised us with a beautiful dive.
We meant to go to find the batfish at 30m near sandy bottom but instead we had a tiger shark that seemed curious of what we were doing there , that stayed with us for quite a long time.Of course with him around, nobody else was looking for the red lipped bat fish anymore.
Stay tuned for more Cocos Island / Okeanos Aggressor news!
