Dive Sites: Amberhead North & Sandy Slope
After doing our buoyancy checks, we went down at Amberhead North for our first dives of the week, then motored to Sandy Slope to dive in the afternoon. One of the first things we saw was a very graceful Eagle Ray. We also saw green morays, garden eels, spiny lobsters, spotted morays, channel clinging crabs, a white spotted toadfish, banded coral shrimp, Pederson cleaning shrimp, some beautiful Queen Angelfish, and a green turtle. At the end of the dive a remora was hanging around.

Dive sites: Black Beauty
At Black Beauty, we saw a record number of toadfish…8 on one dive. The White spotted toadfish is indigenous to Turneffe Atoll and has not been reported anywhere else in the world. Also, they are good at hiding. We also saw several lobsters, different types of shrimp, green morays, spotted morays, channel clinging crabs, and an octopus.

Dive Sites: Grand Bogue & Half Moon Caye Wall
We finished our morning dive at Grand Bogue on Turneffe Atoll, then motored over to Lighthouse Reef and went diving at Half Moon Caye Wall. Before leaving Turneffe, we saw some more white spotted toadfish. Later in the day at Half Moon Caye, we got to see our first shark of the week, a Caribbean Reef shark cruised along the wall. We saw a huge green moray sleeping, hung out with several friendly Nassau groupers, had a big barracuda come check us out, found a little golden tail moray in the reef, and got swarmed by creole wrasse. In the sand we found garden eels, peacock flounder, and watched several Southern Stingrays feeding.

Dive Sites: Lighthouse Wall & Quebrada
Wednesday was another great dive day on two amazing dive sites…Lighthouse Wall & Quebrada. We saw reef sharks, Nassau groupers, barracuda, Southern stingrays, schools of Creole wrasse, schools of midnight parrotfish, and several morays. As we cruised the wall we saw a hawksbill turtle off in the deep, and while watching it, another hawksbill swam up right in front of us.

Dives Sites: Johnny’s Wrench & Front Porch
Thursday morning our guests woke up at Turneffe Atoll after we motored over in the early morning hours. On both sites today, we found some more white spotted toadfish…what a treat this week with all those sightings. There were also several morays, stingrays, an Eagle ray, hawksbill turtle, lots of lobsters, bar jacks, and some very brightly coloured brittle stars.
