Wayne B. Brown, Chairman and CEO

As Chairman and CEO, one of the most important parts of the business is to travel to Aggressor Fleet & Dancer Fleet destinations to ensure we are continuing to deliver the safety, quality and personal service that we have built our reputation on. These visits also allow me to not only spend time with all the guests but to feed my love for diving and photography as well.

Some of our busiest times are when we launch a new destination. From training the crew to ensuring all the expected amenities are in place, we try to ensure a smooth start to every destination. Fortunately for us, we get lots of practice with all the new destinations we have been adding and the ones we are in process of adding now!

Hope to see you on my next dive charter!

Fiji, Island Dancer - June, 2015

It is always the unexpected that you hear once the dive is over. On our first day onboard the Island Dancer II, we saw the rare winged pipe fish and a hammerhead! One of the guests had asked me as we were pulling away form the dock if they ever see hammerheads in Fiji. They do occasionally but this week we had them on most days!

As the ‘Soft Coral Capital’ of the world, Fiji lives up to its name at dive sites like Mellow Yellow, Hi-8 and Chimneys. It is like seeing an underwater rainbow as you gently pass along the walls!

One of the highlights of Island Dancer II is the village visit and the kava ceremony. We visited the village of Gau (now) where we were greeted by friendly locals who lead us on a short tour of the village before entering the community house. We always elect one of the guests as our ‘Chief’ and that person accepts the first drink of kava from the village elders. The villagers then put on a great cultural show for us with their traditional music, dancing and invite the guests to join in!

At Nigali Pass, we descended into a dozen or more reef sharks that are waiting for their weekly lunch! Our divemaster Moses ties off a couple of fish heads to the rock as the guests and the sharks eagerly await him to back off. Once Moses signals for the feeding to begin, the snapper are first in and the sharks quickly follow. It is always over too quickly but the thrill lasts forever!

We celebrated two of our guests’ birthdays and raised a toast to Dimay and Austin who were on their honeymoon and appreciated them sharing it with us! I was able to get in a couple of presentations this week on sharks and underwater photography and was happy to help Ty and Austin improve their underwater shooting skills. As a side note, if you ever want to kill a couple of hours, just get me started talking about photography!

We all parted as new friends heading back to the real world and looking forward to diving again on the next Aggressor/Dancer charter in the future.

See you aboard!
