Saturday Jan 10th
12 guests from the USA and Italy joined us for a fun filled week of diving
aboard the beautiful Belize Aggressor III. Guests were greeted dock side
around 3:00PM. Scuba equipment setup and each guest shown to their cabins.
We had our welcome aboard briefing and champagne toast at 5:30PM.
Sunday Jan 11th
We started the week off at Turneffe Islands Atoll. Great couple morning
dives, sightings included yellow headed jawfish, sargassum triggerfish, a
few spotted lobster, golden tail moray, and some southern stingrays. At
lunch time we motored over to Lighthouse Reef for more great dives and
marine life encounters.
Monday Jan 12th
Upon entering the water divers were met by friendly reef sharks, turtles,
eagle rays, and curious groupers. The night dive was equally impressive -
squid, octopus, black, white, and red sea urchins, tarpon on the hunt, and a
few white speckled nudibranch. I also, secretly celebrated my 42nd birthday
and what a way to celebrate than in beautiful Belize.
Tuesday Jan 13th
The weather was just right, so we motored one hour to the Blue Hole.
Excellent deep dive and cool critters to check out during the safety stop
right under the BAIII. After the dive the Boutique was open, brownies
served up and we motored over to the island of Half Moon Caye. The guests
walked around the island for a couple hours, taking photos and video of the
more than 4,000 resident red footed boobie and frigate birds.
Wednesday Jan 14th
We had a few clouds this day, but the dives were still awesome. Lots of
caribbean reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, turtles, green morays, spotted
morays, gray angelfish, french angelfish, rock beauties, a few porcupine
pufferfish, and lots of cleaning stations. Jenny completed her 100th
milestone dive after returning from the night dive.
Thursday Jan 15th
By request we returned to Half Moon Caye Wall for one dive. Lots of
southern stingrays, sail fin blennies, pipefish, blue parrot fish, hogfish,
goatfish, garden eels, and the usual suspects near the wall. For the rest
of the day we dove Painted Wall and Silver Caves. Over 20 groupers
congregating off the wall, a nice hawks bill turtle made for great photo
ops, Brian rescued a bristle fire worm from certain death, we witnessed
three spotted eagle rays flying in formation while two reef sharks glided 30
feet below them. Schools of creole wrasse were on the move and a fun free
swimming green moray provided some entertainment while Creig captured video.
The night dive produced squid, octopus, tarpon, groupers, cubera snapper,
and a cool water spider.
Friday Jan 16th
Back at Turneffe to finish out the week, Jenny found the white spotted
toadfish. Other encounters included a seahorse, lettuce sea slug, burrfish
(type of pufferfish), hawks bill turtle, 4 green moray eels and upon
surfacing from the dive a half dozen dolphins zip by the BAIII to say
After arriving port, a few guests enjoyed a massage while others relaxed
with a cocktail. We had our wine & cheese party and reflected on the week
of great diving. The guests had dinner out on the town and retired for the
A few awards handed out this week.
