Thursday 2nd July
Today is arrival day on board the Komodo Dancer and with great excitement we welcomed 16 guests. We have guests from China, USA and Australia. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner together as we began our cruise.
Friday 3rd July
We began our day with a check dive at Sebayor. A protected bay with a beautiful reef slope. Highlights included a school of about 40 Bumphead parrot fish, Napoleon wrasse and leaf scorpion fish.
We then enjoyed a well deserved second breakfast as the boat moved to Gili Lawa Laut. Lighthouse Reef was our second dive of the day. Highlights included white tip reef sharks, leaf scorpion fish, cuttlefish and crocodile fish.
After lunch it was time to dive the infamous Shotgun. A great drift dive with highlights being white tip reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, giant trevally and green turtles.
Our night dive was at Spanish Steps. Highlights included Spanish dancers, hawksbill and green turtles, bamboo shark and white tip reef sharks.
Saturday 4th July
We began our day diving Tatawa Besaar. A great drift dive on a reef slope. Highlights included leaf scorpion fish, cuttlefish, Giant trevally and hawksbill turtles.
We then moved to Batu Balong an incredible pinnacle. Full of amazing corals and over flowing with life. Highlights included large turtles, napoleon wrasse, giant trevally, white tip reef sharks and schooling anthias and fusiliers.
During luch we moved to Bidadari Island. A site where focus is more on the macro.
We then moved back to Sebayor Island for our night dive. Highlights included Spanish dancers, stargazers, cuttlefish and a variety of crustaceans.
Sunday 5th July
Overnight we travelled to the far south of the national park to a bay known as Langkoi. Today we are hoping to find mantas. We did our first 3 dives at Langkoi and got many mantas on every dive. Other highlights included black tip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse and a great barracuda.
After our third dive we moved slightly north to Lahsera Bay. As we entered the bay a sperm whale was spotted breaching unbelievably as we moored the curious sperm whale came right up to our boat.
We then did our night dive on the Phinisi wreck. Highlights included Spanish dancers, an array of other nudibranchs as well as carrier and decorator crabs.
Monday 6th July
In the early hours of the morning we headed east to Nusa Kode. We began our day diving Cannibal rock an incredible seamount. Highlights included white tip reef sharks, many nudibranchs, zebra crabs and pygmy seahorses.
Our second dive was at Rhino Rock highlights included mimic octopus, nudibranches and cuttlefish.
We then went to visit the Komodo Dragons on the beach. A unique and incredible photographic opportunity.
We then moved to Padar Island where we enjoyed a great dive on a site known as 3 sisters. Three submerged pinnacles highlights included giant frogfish, nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses and white tip reef sharks.
We then did a land excursion to the Pink Beach and enjoyed a glorious sunset.
It was then time for our night dive at Pusir Putih. Highlights included bobtail squid, warty frogfish and longfin squid.
Tuesday 7th July
We began our day diving two incredible pinnacles known as Castle and Crystal Rock. Highlights included many white tip reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, grey reef sharks, napoleon wrasse and large schools of a variety of trevally, snappers and sweetlips.
We then dived a site known as the passage. A great little drift dive with amazing corals. Highlights included leaf scorpion fish, hawksbill turtles and schooling fusiliers.
Our night dive was at Spanish Steps. Highlights included Spanish dancers, bobtail squid and a variety of crustaceans.
Wednesday, 8th July
In the early hours of the morning we headed west to Banta Island. We began our day diving K2 an incredible reef slope with amazing corals.
It was then time to dive Roller Coaster a great drift on an incredible wall. Highlights included huge schools of trevally, pygmy seahorses and long fin squid.
After lunch it was time to dive Star Wars. Another great reef slope full of marine life.
Our night dive was at Circus. A wonderful site highlights included stargazers, clown frogfish, stone fish and long arm octopus.
Thursday 9th July
We began our day diving just off Komodo Island in an area known as Batumoncho. Our first dive of the day was at Big Nose. Highlights included a manta and white tip reef sharks.
We then moved to Castle Rock. An incredible dive during which our videographer filmed a feeding frenzy of over 30 white tip reef sharks feeding on a juvenile white tip reef shark. Highlights included 3 grey reef sharks, many white tip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse and giant trevally.
We then moved to Honeymoon Rock. A great wall dive full of macro. Highlights included many nudibranchs, morays, scorpion fish and crocodile fish.
Our night dive was at Wainilu. Highlights included bobtail squid, pygmy cuttlefish, nudibranchs and spiny devil fish.
Friday, 10th July
We began our day diving Siaba. A slow drift dive with great corals. Highlights included Bamboo shark and Hawksbill turtles.
We then dived Batu Balong an incredible pinnacle full of life. Highlights included Napoleon wrasse, Giant Trevally, rainbow runners, white tip reef sharks and many different nudibranchs.
After lunch we dived Makasaar highlights were mantas, spotted eagle ray and black tip reef sharks.
We then climbed to the top of Gili Lawa Darat and enjoyed a wonderful sunset before gearing up again for our night dive. Highlights included Spanish dancers, painted lobsters and nudibranchs.
Saturday 11th July
Our final day of diving began at Crystal Rock an incredible pinnacle. Highlights included grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks and large schools of a variety of trevally, snappers and sweet lips.
Our final dive of the trip was at Shotgun. A super fast drift dive. Highlights included green turtles, barracuda, cuttlefish and white tip reef sharks.
We then moved to Wainilu for our dragon trekking . All guests got incredible shots of dragons during their mating season.
It was then time to slowly sail back to Labuan Bajo. Guests enjoyed a farewell cocktail party followed by a festive final dinner.
Sadly all that’s left is to say a fond farewell.
