Captains Log: July 11th- 18th, Kona Aggressor II

Air Temp. 80-85F
Water Temp. 79-82F
Recommended Wetsuit 3mm-5mm

Crew: Captain Karl, Second Captain Chris, Chef Matt, Instructors Jesse, Danny, and Phil.
 
Guests: Bill, Shonna, Javier, Juan, Arnaldo, Nuria, Ramiro, Neil, Dave, Marcel and Philip.

Sunday: Kalokos Arches and Garden Eel Cove.

Monday: The Dome, Lions Den and the Hive.

Tuesday: Thompsons Reef, Catacombs and Manuka Bay.

Wednesday: Peles Playground, Au Au Crater and Robs Reef.

Thursday: Paradise Pinnacle, Driftwood and Manta ville.

Friday: Turtle Pinnacle.

Saturday July 11th
This week we welcomed aboard a group from Canada, Spain, Brazil, and USA on the Kona Aggressor ll. We picked everyone up from the Kona Pier saturday evening and headed out to the mooring for dinner and a briefing. We came up with a plan for the week and headed to bed so we could be bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning.

Sunday July 12th
The Kona Aggressor ll headed north to Kalokos Arches for the first dives of the week. Everyone did great on the check out dive and saw a  Viper Moray, Zebra Moray, Dragon Wrasse, and Flame Wrasse. During our stay we were entertained by Spinner Dolphins! Next, We headed to Garden Eel Cove where we did our last three dives of the day. On the dives our guests were extremely lucky and saw Mantas on all dives with Spinner Dolphins on the 2 Oclock and 430 dive!

Monday July 13th
The Kona Aggressor ll headed south to the Dome for the first two dives. The group really enjoyed the Lava Cave. Some highlights of the dive were a Dragon Wrasse, Octopus, Hellers Barracuda, Frog Fish, and a White Tip Reef Shark. While enjoying a delicious meal, we headed further south to Lions Den for dive number three. The chatter on the dive deck afterwards was of a Speckled Scorpion Fish, Octopus, Psychedelic Wrasse, Red Lion Fish, and a Green Turtle. Next, We headed to the Hive for the last two dives of the day. What our guests recalled seeing was a Spotted Coral Blenny, Spotted Box Fish, and a Titan Scorpion Fish. On the night dive the highlights were Spiny Lobster, Spanish Dancers, and Decoy Scorpion Fish.

Tuesday July 14th
The Kona Aggressor ll continued south to Thompsons Reef and were lucky enough to see a Long Spined Puffer Fish, Pyramid Butter Fly Fish, Spiny Lobster, Yellow Margin Moray, White Tip Reef Shark, and a Green Turtle. Next, We Headed to  Catacombs for dive three where the group really enjoyed the underwater topography and seeing a Reticulated Butterfly Fish, Viper Moray, Yellow Margin Moray, and a Saddle Back Butter Fly Fish. The Kona Aggressor II headed further south to Manuka Bay for the last three dives of the day. The talk on the dive deck afterwards was of seeing a Yellow Margin Moray, Tiger Snake Moray, Sculptured Slipper Lobster, Cusk Eel, and a Devil Scorpion Fish.

Wednesday July 15th
During a beautiful sunrise, we began our way back north to Peles Playground for our first dive. Our guest really enjoyed all the Lava Formations underwater and found a Reticulated Butterfly Fish, Tear Drop Butterfly Fish, Long Handed Lobster, and a Turtle.  Next, We headed to Au Au Crater and saw a Long Handed Lobster, Stout Moray, Fried Egg Nudibranch, Strawberry Nudibranch, Titan Scorpion Fish, and a Great Barracuda. The Kona Aggressor ll continued north to Robs Reef for the last dives of the day. The guests really enjoyed the cave where they saw a Regal Slipper Lobster, Crabs, Conger Eel, and a Mantis Shrimp. On the night dive they saw a Candy Cane Lobster, and a Mantis Shrimp.

Thursday July 16th
The day started with a quick jog to the south to Paradise Pinnacle, where we were greeted by a pod a Spinner Dolphins! On the dives, they spotted some adult Peacock Razor wrasse, White Stripe Cleaner Shrimp, Mantis Shrimp, Eagle Ray and a Frog Fish!. Afterwards, the Kona Aggressor II moved north to dive at Driftwood, where guests enjoyed the fun swim-throughs, and saw a Gold Laced Nudibranch, Octopus, and a White Tip Reef Shark. As the afternoon progressed, we found our way to Manta Ville, where the boat was alive with energy of there second Manta dive. During both dives our guest got Mantas with the night dive being a great show for our guests.

Friday July 17th
The Kona Aggressor ll continued North to Turtle Pinnacle for the last two dives of the week. The highlights were a Viper Moray, an Eagle Ray, White Tip Reef Shark, Tiger Shark, and a Pod of Spinner Dolphins!

Saturday July 18th
We headed back to the Kona Pier, and said goodbye to our new friends from Spain, Canada, Brazil, and USA as they headed home. Congratulation to our Iron Divers Bill, Shonna. Phil, Dave, and Neil. We very much enjoyed diving with you and we hope youll be back for another trip with us again soon!
