Sunday 16th August
Today is arrival day and with great excitement we welcomed 11 wonderful guests from the USA, Belgium, Malaysia, UK and Germany. Due to late arrival there was no diving today and in the late afternoon we sailed to the south of Komodo Island.
Monday, 17th August
We began our day with a checkout dive at Lahsera Bay, A gentle reef slope with highlights being Napoleon wrasse, hawksbill turtles and a beautiful flat worm.
We moved to Langkoi for our second dive and did two dives at the Alley where we hoped to find Mantas. Although the water was cool (23 degrees) and the visibility was not perfect (10-15 metres). We did see more Mantas than we could count as well as dolphins and a black tip reef shark. A fantastic way to start our diving together.
We then moved north to Padar Island the location of our night dive. Highlights included warty frogfish, cuttlefish, zebra crabs and nudibranchs.
Tuesday, 18th August
We began our day diving Lighthouse Reef, A beautiful reef slope full of incredible corals. Highlights included mantas, marble rays, white tip reef sharks and leaf scorpion fish.
Our next dive was at Castle Rock a stunning pinnacle dive. Highlights included large schools of sweetlips, giant trevally and surgeon fish as well as napoleon wrasse and white tip reef sharks.
After lunch we moved west to Komodo Island and an area known as Batumoncho. Our dive at Big Nose had highlights of white tip reef sharks, pygmy seahorses, napoleon wrasse and ribbon eels.
Our night dive was at Coral Garden. Highlights included a variety of nudibranchs and crustaceans.
