Thursday 12th January 2017
Today is arrival day on board the Indo aggressor with great excitement we welcomed 16 Guests from USA, Canada, UK, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands. Due to late arrivals we had no time to dive but enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the way to an island known as Gili Lawa Darat. Arriving in time for our first dinner together.
Friday 13th January 2017
We began our day with a check out dive in the bay of GLD. Crystal clear warm water welcomed us. Highlights included leaf scorpion fish, Nudibranchs, Hawksbill turtle and an assortment of colourful reef fish. The second dive was at makasaar reef, on this shallow reef covered in coral rubble we hoped to see manta rays. Highlights included: Manta rays, Spotted eagle rays, Turtles and moray eels. The third dive was at Siaba Besar, a sandy sloping reef were you can find superb macro life. Highlights included: Flamboyant cuttlefish, juvenile painted frogfish, spiny devilfish, ambon scorpionfish, robust ghost pipefish, and a variety of nudibranchs. The night dive was at Spanish steps. Highlights included: Spanish dancers, Nurseshark and a wide array of crustaceans.
Saturday 14th January 2017
This morning we started with a exciting drift dive called Golden Passage, the narrow channel between Komodo island and GLD makes a fast drift dive. Highlights included: White tip reef sharks, Black tip reef sharks, Giant trevallys and schooling batfish. The second dive was at Crystal Rock a wonderful pinnacle with many sightings of white tip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, jacks, schooling surgeon fish and an assortment of various reef fish. Our third dive was at the famous drift dive known as Shotgun. Highlights included black tip reef sharks, giant trevally, hawksbill and green turtles. The night dive was at Spanish Steps. Highlights included: Spanish dancers, white tip reef sharks and an array of nudibranchs.
Sunday 15th January 2017
In the early hours we headed west to Banta Island. We began our day at at K2 a great wall slope combination. Highlights included frogfish, juvenile barramundi, juvenile emperor angel fish, leaf scorpion fish and nudis.
We then moved to Rollercoaster an incredible wall and slope combination. Highlights included frogfish, manta rays, banded sea snake, schooling jacks and whip coral shrimp.
Our third dive was West Point highlights included spectacular corals and many close encounters with many mantas. Our night dive was at Circus highlights included stonefish, leaf scorpion fish, dwarf cuttlefish, twin spotted lionfish, harlequin snake eels and white V octopus
Monday 16th January 2017
We began our day diving at Tatawa Besar, a strong current drift dive over a sloping reef. Highlights included: Manta ray, Hawksbill turtles, leaf scorpion fish and nudis. The second dive was at Batu Bolong, a incredible pinnacle dive that is covered in schooling anthias and baslets. Highlights included: fighting hawksbill turtles, Murray eels, White tip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, giant trevallys and a wide array of Nudibranchs. The third dive was at Mauan, here we hoped to see the manta rays, luckily for us there were lots of giant manta rays hanging out with us for over an hour. The night dive was at Wainilu. Highlights included: frogfish, coleman shrimp, seahorses and a wide array of nudibranchs.
Tuesday 17th January 2017
In the early hours we arrived at Nusakode, Nusakode is the most southern part of Rinca island. The first dive we did was at Cannibal Rock, a submerged seamount with an incredible amount of fish. Highlights included: whip coral shrimp, nurse shark, Nudibranchs and schooling batfish. The second dive was at Yellow Wall, an incredible wall dive covered in yellow crinoids. Highlights included: Giant frogfish, Green turtles, Giant Trevallys and an array of Crustaceans.
The third dive was a muck dive called Torpedo Alley. Highlights included: Nudibranchs, Juvenile frogfish, Hairy shrimp and robust ghostpipe fish.
Wednesday 18th January 2017
We began our day diving at 3 sisters of off Padar island. These 3 pinnacles are just magical with lots of fish and beautiful hard and soft corals. Highlights included: White tip reef sharks, Frogfish, Mantis shrimp and hawksbill turtles. The second dive was at secret garden. Highlights included: giant frogfish, coleman shrimp, schooling batfish and a blue ring octopus. The third dive was at Pasir Putih, a sandy reef slope with lots of coral boomies. Highlights included: Giant frogfish, Cuttlefish, porcelain crab and octopus. The night dive was at Pasir Putih as well and we had many sightings of, frogfish, seahorses and nudibranchs.
Thursday 19th January 2017
We began our day diving just north of Gili Lawa Laut on an exciting pinnacle known as Crystal Rock. Highlights included white tip reef sharks, free swimming moray, schooling trevally, giant trevally and napoleon wrasse.
Our third dive was at Castle Rock another wonderful pinnacle with many sightings of white tip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, jacks, schooling surgeon fish and an assortment of various reef fish. Our third dive was at the Golden Passage. Highlights included: White tip reef sharks, Juvenile batfish, Nudibranchs and broad club cuttlefish. The night dive was at Spanish step were we went looking for the Spanish dancers. Highlights included: Spanish dancers, Black tip reef sharks and nudibranchs.
Friday 20th January 2017
We began our day with an exciting drift dive at Siaba Kecil, a sloping reef with a beautifull overhang. Highlights included: White tip reef sharks, Hawksbill turtles, Giant Trevallys and nudis. The second dive was at an incredible pinnacle called Batu Bolong. Highlights included: Turtles, Napoleon wrasse, Dog toothed tuna and a variety of nudibranchs. The third dive was at Horse shoe bay, a beautiful sloping reef with excellent coral coverage. Highlights included: Pygmy seahorses, Manta rays and mobula rays. The night dive was at Sebayor. Highlights included: Nudis, Octopus, Frogfish and Reef sharks.
Saturday 21st January 2017
Our first dive this morning was at Tatawa besar, a gentle drift dive over an incredible sloping reef. Highlights included: Lots of manta rays, broadclub cuttlefish laying eggs, green and hawksbill turtles, nudibranchs and octopus. The last dive of the trip was at Makasaar reef. Highlights included: Manta rays everywhere!! We then headed to the north of Rinja Island and anchored just off the island of Wainilu in preparation for our official dragon trekking experience. We had close encounters with Komodo Dragons, monkeys, Timor deer and wild pigs.
On our way back to port guests enjoyed a farewell cocktail party followed by a viewing of the official trip video and a small award ceremony. We then enjoyed a farewell dinner together on board the Indo Aggressor. Sadly tomorrow is departure day and guests disembark.
