Monday December 25th
Today, the bell was rung at 6 am and guests woke up for coffee and tea in Male North. The dhoni transported them to Fish Factory for their check·out dive, an amazing dive site with 25 meters of visibility, schools of banner fish, hungry sting rays and too many moray eels to count! As the weather clouded over, we headed for Maagiri, which, although showing much less visibility, had scorpion fish, ribbon eels, octopus and blue lined snappers in very light current. A filling lunch of Western Style burgers was devoured and guests rested for the 3 hour navigation. For the night dive, guests went to Alimatha Island, where they had many nurse sharks rolling in the sand. Upon their return, guests were delighted by a delicious dinner, a presentation of Tropical Reef Fish, and surprised with a cake to celebrate Stephs 40th birthday.
Tuesday December 12th
The morning dives were both channel dives, one at Devana Kandu and Miyaru Kandu in Vaavu Atoll. Guests saw many White tip reef sharks, octopus, nudibranchs, porcupine fish, turtles and lobsters. The wáter clarity was amazing, with visibility of 30 meters and wáter temperatura of 28 C. The weather was beautiful, with hazy clouds and 30 C. After a 4 hour long navigation to South Ari Atoll, the guests did a Wall dive at Ari Beach, and only three guests ventured out for the night dive after dinner to Ariyadhoo, seeing 3 incredibly large and colourful stonefish, multiple octopus, flatworms, hermit crabs and beautiful soft corals in caves.
Wednesday December 13th
The weather changed to gloomy today, with heavy rain and cloudy skies. That didnt stop guests from going to Sun Island in search of Whale Sharks! Unfortunately no sharks, but guests did see a school of over 40+ mobula passing through with the médium-strong current! Guests returned to the boat to share pictures and videos over breakfast. In the afternoon, we ventured to Machchafushi Wreck to visit the 50 meter underwater boat, with nudibranchs, eels and many pipefish! At night, guests dove Machchafushi Reef, where they saw beautiful corals, Stone fish, nurse shark and many sea cucumbers.
Thursday December 14th
Guests did three dives today. The morning was a Little chilly at about 28 C, and the dive site, Kudarah Thila, was very popular this morning. The guests enjoyed many swim through caves with plenty of blue lined snappers. After breakfast, the group went to Hukuruuelhi Faru where they had an amazing shark dive! Silver tip sharks, gray reef sharks, white tip sharks, as well as turtles, moray eels with white mouths! At Rah Digga Thila, the cavities were full of soft coral and divers spotted hawkfish amongst them. We ended early in order to visit Rah Digga Island for a sunset BBQ.
