This week we had a great and fun bunch of people diving with us, there were several old friends that came back to visit and we made some new friends on the Belize Aggressor III.

Dive Sites: Amberhead South & Amberhead North
We started our week diving both Amberhead South & Amberhead North on the West side of Turneffe Atoll. We had a great first day of diving with sightings of the white spotted toadfish, green morays, a lizardfish hiding under sand, juvenile jackknife fish, juvenile and adult spotted drums, garden eels, and yellow headed jawfish.

Dive sites: Lighthouse Wall & Half Moon Caye Wall
After motoring over from Turneffe the night before, we woke up at Lighthouse Reef Atoll. Our dives today were in the Marine Park at Lighthouse Wall and Half Moon Caye Wall, both on the South Side of Half Moon Caye. We saw a Caribbean Reef Shark, lots of stingrays, a huge eagle ray, another juvenile jackknife fish, flapping dingbats, headshield slugs, schooling sailor’s choice, blue parrotfish, goatfish, and some queen triggers protecting their eggs, pipefish, and lots of garden eels and razorfish.

Dive Sites: Blue Hole, Angelfish Reef, & Long Caye Wall
The Great Blue Hole was the first stop of the day. We did our guided dive down to the stalactite formations hanging down deep below. Next stop was Angelfish wall, where there were 3 Caribbean Reef sharks swimming over the sandy flats right below the boat. We also found 2 scorpionfish, had some up close and personal encounters with more reef sharks We also watched an eagle ray being followed by a shark. There were some huge barracuda, some more queen triggers protecting eggs, arrow blennies, a green turtle feeding, octopus, slipper lobster, spiny lobster, spotted moray, and squid on the dives today.

Dive Sites: Cathedral & Quebrada
Wednesday, we had some amazing dives at Cathedral and Quebrada on the West Side of Long Caye. The visibility was awesome, and the reef was vibrant with colors from the coral, sponges and fish. We did some swim thru’s and saw some Caribbean Reef Sharks, eagle ray, sharptail eel, nurse shark, tarpon, and watched a hawksbill turtle feeding. AWESOME!

Dives Sites: Site X & Silver Caves
Thursday, we hopped in at Site X for the morning dives and Silver Caves for the afternoon. We had more shark action with 2 Caribbean reef sharks hanging out for most of the dives. We also found a juvenile nurse shark (about a foot long) with a juvenile spotted drum circling around it’s head. There were more turtle sightings, and a squadron of tarpon circled in.

Dive Site: Triple Anchor & Elbow
We finished off the week of diving on the Southern tip of Turneffe Atoll, diving Triple Anchor and The Elbow. We were surrounded by a school of Atlantic spadefish, saw several spotted and green morays, saw a scorpionfish, and watched schools of rainbow and midnight parrotfish. We also found a white spotted toadfish.
Congrats to our Milestone divers…Steve with 100 dives and Heinke with 400 dives!
