Sunday

Periwinkle, Blue Hole, 2x Dog Rocks

We started with an early departure from our home dock in Nassau and made our way to Periwinkle Reef, an amazing shallow reef perfect for check dive, our guests came out of the water amazed at the number of fish and colors of this dive site!!!

We moved the boat for our second dive in the blue hole near Nassau, it’s a very small diameter blue hole but the marine life is amazing! As soon as we descended into it a nurse shark swam on the edge of the hole wall while we were deep down watching its situation, we also had a few small sharks coming in and out during the dive, once we were almost at the end of the dive on the shallow part, a massive loggerhead turtle came out just in front of the group, what an amazing dive!!!!!!

After the Blue Hole, we started to make our way to Exumas while our guest had some lunch, we arrived at one of our favorite wall dives in that area called the Dog Rocks, with beautiful swim-throughs leading to an amazing cathedral full of sea sponges and colors we had dinner and a night dive on the same site. Crabs, octopuses, Turtles, Lobsters, and starfish. Time to rest…

Tuesday

Engines started at 6:30 a.m., to head down south into the Exumas National Marine and Land Sea Park. On the first dive of the day Capt. Gustavo took the guests into Black Tip Shark Wall, where they had a lot of fun into the swim thoughts, the group saw a sleepy reef shark lying on the bottom, and they also spotted a beautiful lettuce slug and plenty of lobster hiding in the cracks and crevices. Soon after we finished, the boat headed to Cracked Coral Head. Charlie led the next dive, exploring a maze of glorious swim-throughs, where jawfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, grey angelfish, and tiger grouper were seen. Just in time for lunch, we spotted a few lettuce slugs as well! (Rest assured, they remain safe at home on the reef instead of on our plates with a nice balsamic dressing). That afternoon we jumped in at Danger Reef to enjoy the dramatic show of the landscape combining the well-preserved coral mounts and a dozen reef sharks hanging around the boat. More Nassau and tiger groupers were seen, and our luck with horse eye jacks continued as an impressive school passed us by. Many colorful parrotfish fluttered through the reef as well as southern stingrays, flamingos, cowries, and cowfish. Due to the current, we changed our next two dive locations to amberjack reef. Next dive, we decided to navigate around the reef, where we witnessed a huge barracuda chasing two scrawled filefish, who fortunately swam fast enough to hide in a hole, Cristine was amazed watching the scene. At night We did see lobster, which was the biggest one of the trips so far as well as a beautiful, scrawled filefish. We’re not sure if she was being honest about it or not! (Just joking, we believe her). That night for dinner Chef Mayra, with the help of Criss and Javier cooked a magnificent New York stake, which the guests enjoyed a lot.
