July 13 – Malapascua
Dive 1 – Kimud Shoal (Check Dive):
A shallow dive kicked off the adventure with sightings of majestic thresher sharks being cleaned. Divers also encountered anthias, unicornfish, surgeonfish, tunas, yellowtail barracuda, and pufferfish.
Dive 2 – Kimud Shoal (Repeat):
We stayed close to a single spot and were rewarded with up-close views of thresher sharks gliding in for cleaning. It was an unforgettable start.
Dive 3 – Ka-Osting (Malapascua):
A macro lover’s dream: a yellow thorny seahorse, Pegasus sea moths, commensal anemone cleaner shrimp, a stunning green Shaun the Sheep nudibranch, headshield slugs, Nembrotha kubaryana, sponge isopods, dragonets, and harlequin sweetlips.
Dive 4 – Exotic House Reef (Night Dive):
This vibrant dive revealed Mandarin fish, countless nudibranchs and sea slugs, a large stargazer, box crabs, arrow crabs, squat lobsters, moray eels, and porcupinefish.
July 14 – Monad Shoal & Gato Island
Dive 1 – Monad Shoal:
We encountered white-tip reef sharks—including a pregnant one—plus moray eels, garden eels, nudibranchs, sea slugs, and an array of colorful reef fish.
Dive 2 – Gato Island (The Tunnel):
A thrilling swim-through with pygmy seahorse, scorpionfish, banded sea snakes, shrimpfish, crabs, shrimp, and dazzling nudibranchs.
Dive 3 – Gato Island (Northeast Side):
With winds increasing, we sought shelter and found lionfish, mating cuttlefish, juvenile harlequin sweetlips, bigmouth mackerel, hermit crabs, and boxfish.
Evening Highlight: Seafood Night by the Chefs as we transited to Moalboal, Cebu.
July 15 – Moalboal & Pescador Island
Dive 1 – Panagsama Point:
Sardine tornado! Millions of sardines shimmered around us. Also seen: nudibranchs, reef and ringed pipefish, lionfish, scorpionfish, and moray eels.
Dive 2 – Pescador Island (West):
A big octopus, yellow boxfish, fusiliers, damselfish, clownfish, cleaner shrimp, flatworms, and more.
Dive 3 – Tongo Point (Moalboal Bay):
A haven for green sea turtles, nudibranchs, rabbitfish, juvenile batfish, and striking sea fans.
Dive 4 – Canceled Night Dive
Strong winds and poor visibility made diving unsafe.
July 16 – Oslob & Sumilon Island
Dive 1 – Oslob:
We swam alongside 8+ whale sharks ranging from 12 to 30 feet! We also spotted sea turtles, batfish, bonito tuna, and bigmouth mackerel.
Dive 2 – Sumilon Northeast:
Encounters included reef sharks, a 3-ft Napoleon wrasse, a tiny painted frogfish, pufferfish, garden eels, and a massive Spanish mackerel.
Dive 3 – Sumilon Southwest:
Highlights: resting reef sharks, mantis shrimp, sexy shrimp, trevally, tiger and egg cowries.
Dive 4 – Canceled Night Dive
Sudden downpour and gusty winds forced us to shelter at Sibulan, Negros.
Weather Alert: A developing tropical depression intensified the southwest monsoon, redirecting us to calm waters at Sandingan Island, Bohol.
July 17 – Sandingan & Cabilao Island
Dive 1 – Sandingan Poblacion:
Colorful nudibranchs, razorfish, juvenile batfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, mantis shrimp, and more.
Dive 2 – Cabilao Island (Cambaquiz East):
A stunning wall dive with soft corals, cowries, turtles, sexy shrimp, reef pipefish, and moray eels.
Dive 3 – Cambaquiz West:
Visibility was limited, but we still found pipefish, razorfish, eels, and slugs.
Dive 4 – Sandingan Slope (Night):
Rare blue-ringed and short-armed octopus, bobtail squids, ghost pipefish, seahare, whip coral shrimp, and catfish.
Dinner Highlight: Romantic Candlelight Dinner by the Chefs
July 18 – Cabilao & Sandingan
Dive 1 – Looc 1 (Cabilao):
Turtles, razorfish, anthias, nudibranchs, flatworms, pipefish, and golden damselfish.
Dive 2 – Looc 2:
Choppy conditions brought us to a female green turtle, spiny lobster, nudibranchs, and slugs.
Dive 3 – Sandingan Poblacion Northwest:
Juvenile batfish, harlequin sweetlips, lionfish, and countless crustaceans.
Dive 4 – Sandingan Slope (Night):
Octopus, squids, cone snails, ornate cowries, giant side-gilled slugs, whip coral shrimp, and a rainbow of nudibranchs.
July 19 – Sandingan Island
Dive 1 – Mocpoc Point:
Excellent coral coverage, dragonets, lionfish, anemone crabs, whip coral shrimp, and nudibranchs.
Dive 2 – Zi’s Corner (Mocpoc):
Candy crab, juvenile ribbon eel, mantis shrimp, scorpionfish, and sea slugs.
Dive 3 – Zi’s Corner (Repeat):
This time, pygmy seahorses made an appearance, along with more pipefish and brilliant nudibranchs.
Dive 4 – Sandingan Slope (Night):
Cuttlefish, razorfish, bobtail squid, flounder, snails, and colorful sea slugs.
July 20 – Apo Island & Zamboanguita
Dive 1 – Coconut Point (Apo):
Black giant frogfish, moray eels, catfish, tiger cowries, and two banded sea snakes.
Dive 2 – Cogon Point (Apo):
Stonefish, crocodile flatheads, dragonets, nudibranchs, garden eels, and reef fish galore.
Dive 3 – Basak Norte (Zamboanguita):
Spotted: orange frogfish, ornate ghost pipefish, long-snout pipefish, mantis shrimp, and devil scorpionfish.
Dive 4 – Thalatta Housereef (Night):
Harlequin shrimp, ghost pipefish, squids, mantis shrimp, razorfish, and a flurry of sea slugs.
Evening Festivities: BBQ Dinner, Sandy’s Birthday Bash, Karaoke, and Trivia Night!
July 21 – Hilutungan MPA & Kontiki Wall
Dive 1 – Hilutungan Marine Protected Area:
Schools of trevally, batfish, rabbitfish, groupers, sweetlips, and snappers, plus stunning macro critters.
Dive 2 – Kontiki Wall:
A grand finale! Thousands of sardines in a swirling bait ball, chased by bluefin trevally. Also seen: nudibranchs, scorpionfish, razorfish, and boxfish.
July 22 – Disembarkation
