This afternoon we warmly welcomed 17 guests from the United States and Germany aboard the Maldives Aggressor II. After settling into their cabins and becoming familiar with the yacht, everyone gathered for a welcome briefing and safety orientation. Excitement filled the air as guests prepared their dive equipment and anticipated the incredible week of exploration ahead in the Maldives’ world famous atolls. The evening concluded with a delicious welcome dinner and relaxed conversation under the tropical sky.

Our diving adventure began with a check dive at Kurumba Reef, a perfect site for equipment adjustments and buoyancy checks. Divers quickly became comfortable while exploring the reef’s lively marine life. Highlights included moray eels peeking from coral crevices, curious triggerfish, an octopus skillfully blending into the reef, blacktip reef sharks cruising the blue, and a graceful stingray gliding across the sandy bottom.

At Maa Giri Thila the reef truly came alive. Guests observed vibrant schools of yellow snapper swirling around the pinnacle alongside imperial angelfish and oriental sweetlips. A clown triggerfish patrolled the reef while an energetic boxing mantis shrimp guarded its burrow.

The final dive of the day at Fish Tank delivered a spectacular display of marine diversity. Honeycomb moray eels rested among the coral formations while schools of stingrays passed overhead. A massive Napoleon wrasse made an impressive appearance, accompanied by stonefish, scorpionfish, pipefish, a spotted snake eel, and colorful butterflyfish. It was the perfect conclusion to an exciting first day underwater.

Our morning dive at Kandooma Thila offered an exhilarating drift along the reef. With a moderate current pushing us gently along the coral slope, divers encountered eagle rays gliding through the water, turtles resting along the reef, whitetip reef sharks patrolling the drop off, and an octopus tucked into the coral.

Vilivaru Giri provided calmer conditions, allowing guests to slow down and search the reef for macro life. Nudibranchs decorated the reef in vibrant colors while scorpionfish expertly camouflaged themselves among the coral. Another octopus sighting delighted photographers.

At Dehe Giri, exceptional visibility revealed an abundance of marine life. Nurse sharks rested along the sandy bottom while large schools of snapper filled the water column. Stingrays glided past divers as blacktip reef sharks cruised nearby. One lucky group also spotted a unique guitarfish resting along the seabed.

Ikoga Giri closed the day with calm conditions and a variety of fascinating encounters. Lobsters hid within coral crevices, while shrimp and flatworms decorated the reef. A friendly squid hovered curiously near the divers and a beautiful sea snake gracefully navigated the reef structure.

Rangali Madivaru
Arches

Machchafushi Wreck provided an exciting opportunity to explore a fascinating artificial reef. Schools of batfish greeted divers immediately upon descent, followed by a resting nurse shark tucked beneath the structure. Octopus, angelfish, and colorful nudibranchs decorated the wreck while whitetip and blacktip reef sharks circled nearby.

At Rangali Madivaru the highlight came quickly as a majestic manta ray appeared, gliding effortlessly through the water while cleaner fish attended to it. Divers also observed whitetip reef sharks, a baby scorpionfish, moray eels, cleaner shrimp, boxing shrimp, a Napoleon wrasse, a turtle, and unicornfish.

The final dive at Arches showcased stunning coral formations and vibrant reef life. Octopus moved across the reef while moray eels peered from their hiding places. Stingrays rested in the sand and a nurse shark slept peacefully beneath a coral ledge. The site’s arches and colorful reef created a truly memorable underwater landscape.

Fesdhoo Lagoon

At Raddiggha Thila divers encountered lionfish, grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, soldierfish, bigeye fish, scorpionfish, blue striped snapper, and boxfish scattered across the reef.

Moffoshi Rock offered another exciting dive with sightings of Napoleon wrasse, moray eels, octopus, blacktip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, clownfish, and dense schools of snapper moving together along the reef slope.

Hohola Thila featured thrilling shark activity. Grey reef sharks and whitetip reef sharks cruised along the reef while divers also observed banded cleaner shrimp, octopus, moray eels, stonefish, nudibranchs, yellowtail barracuda, and even a manta ray passing gracefully above the thila.

The final dive of the day at Fesdhoo Lagoon was truly unforgettable. Multiple manta rays circled gracefully through the lagoon cleaning station while stingrays rested below and nurse sharks cruised slowly along the sandy bottom. Watching these gentle giants glide effortlessly through the water created a magical end to the day.

Location: North Ari and Rasdhoo Atolls

Rasdhoo

Maaya Thila offered excellent visibility and thrilling marine encounters. Divers observed whitetip reef sharks circling the pinnacle along with schools of barracuda, batfish, cuttlefish, octopus, and scorpionfish. A large great barracuda hovered motionless in the blue, creating an unforgettable sight.

At Ganghi Rock the cleaning station was extremely active. Divers were treated to an incredible spectacle as ten manta rays glided effortlessly through the water alongside an eagle ray, all visiting the cleaning station in a breathtaking underwater ballet.

Rasdhoo provided another action packed dive with excellent visibility. Divers encountered whitetip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, a curious Napoleon wrasse, large schools of bigeye trevallies, stingrays resting in the sand, pufferfish, and a small scorpionfish hidden among the coral.

Our final dive day delivered pure adrenaline. At Shark Tank divers experienced an unforgettable encounter with tiger sharks, lemon sharks, bull sharks, and numerous stingrays circling the site. It was an exhilarating dive and a spectacular highlight of the week.

The last dive at Kurumba offered calm conditions and excellent visibility. Divers enjoyed sightings of octopus, moray eels, a whitetip reef shark, pufferfish, boxfish, cuttlefish, and triggerfish as they savored their final moments underwater in the Maldives.

That evening guests gathered onboard for a celebratory farewell. Iron Diver awards were presented to those who completed every dive of the trip, followed by a wonderful final dinner and stories shared from an unforgettable week of diving.

Departure Day

Guests enjoyed one last breakfast onboard before transferring to Malé. After a week filled with incredible dives, new friendships, and unforgettable underwater encounters, we said our goodbyes.

We hope our guests leave with lasting memories of the Maldives’ stunning reefs, majestic manta rays, and thrilling shark encounters. We look forward to welcoming them back aboard the Maldives Aggressor II for another extraordinary adventure beneath the waves.
