    Joe Pearl

    2nd Captain

My name is Joe Pearl, I grew up on the lakes of upstate New York.  The water has always been a sanctuary for me. I started traveling after university and spent about eight years backpacking and adventuring.  In 2014 while living in Australia I went on my first dive, a discovery scuba dive on the great barrier reef in the Whitsundays.  That experience inspired me to start diving, little did I know it would be the start of my career on the water.  I would go on to one of the diving capitals of the world, Koh Toa and complete my open water and advanced.  I decided I want to become a dive master after that and a year later made my way to another diving mecca, Utlia.  I laid the foundation for my dive career on the beautiful walls and swim throughs of this lovely island.  After some time, I realized I can make a career out of living on the water. The next chapter led me to New Zealand for some cold-water diving and my instructor course.  However, after some time south of the equator and missing American cuisine classics, job opportunity and peanut butter & jelly brought me back to the states.  My first dive instructor job was offered to me in Oahu.  After a year in the beautiful blue waters Hawaii, I was ready to take the next step and get my captain’s license.  I was issued my coast guard merchant marines license to drive boats up to 100 tons.  With my new ticket I was ready for another move, I headed east across the channel to Maui, my favorite Hawaiian island. For a while I found my new home, with amazing diving, humpback whales that annually travel to the temperate waters, life was good in paradise.  Then I received an unexpected call from Captain Jonathan, my boss from the company I worked for in Oahu.  He had a job offer at one of the most prestige’s and sought-after companies in the world, Aggressor Liveaboards!  I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. One month later I was on my first charter in the Bahamas jumping into shark infested waters!

    Kelly Currington

    Instructor/Video Pro

I grew up in a small town in Texas and raised my family there.  I worked in Corporate America in human resources and payroll until I came to the Turks and Caicos and discovered diving.  I was phobically afraid of sharks at that point, but the call of the sea was stronger and it changed everything.  My first dive literally changed my life. I went home and sold my home, moved into a small apartment and began my journey to becoming an instructor…I was going to be in the sea for the rest of my life.

Once I succeeded in accomplishing that goal, I joined the Aggressor fleet and began leaning everything I could about all the creatures here and sharing that information with guests. I name the animals I see weekly and get very attached to them. I found videography early in my career and have honed my skills over the years and absolutely love shooting and editing videos; creating visual memories for our guests to take home.

Writing about the sea and creatures is also a passion of mine.  I am a feature writer for two magazines here in the Turks and Caicos and contribute as often as I can.  Sharing information about the important and vital role oceans play in the health of our planet is important to me.  One way to shift people’s perception of sharks is to show them how beautiful they are how we can co-exist with them.  I am extremely passionate about ocean and shark conservation. That moment when you see the light go on for someone and they suddenly “get it” is what it’s all about. When you know you have changed someone’s life the way yours was changed. I feel blessed every single day to live this life.
