Saturday Jan 6th
A sunny Saturday afternoon in Turks and Caicos, we greeted 5 lovely divers aboard the Turks and Caicos Aggressor II, for our 1st charter of the year. The vessel was clean and shiny and ready for new guests. Everyone started to set up their dive gear and was shown to their cabins to settle in. Once everyone was here Captain Jim started the welcome / safety briefing covering all the safety aspects of the vessel. To wrap up the evening Chef Flowers cooked up a storm and the guests went to bed with full tummies and excitement for the diving the next day.
Sunday Jan 7th
As a new day approaches in Turks and Caicos the guests were awoken with the smell of breakfast in the air and fresh coffee. After breakfast Mateo started the dive orientation briefing in the main salon while Rusty and Manuel started the engines so we could leave the dock with the high tide. We made it to our first dive site called The Cathedral at Grace Bay. Some of the wildlife that we saw included groupers , flamingo tongues, lionfish, and a reef shark. Over lunch, we cross to Northwest point, for our afternoon and night dive. After our delicious lunch, we headed to The Dome which is a dive site featuring a wreck that was the star of a French TV show that is now broken into pieces and home to lots of blennies, as well as turtle, cowfish, Nassau Grouper, Queen triggerfish, queen angelfish, porcupine fish, and stingrays. As always Hot Chocolate with Baileys was waiting for guests after the night dive.
Monday Jan 8th
We fired up the engines at the same time Chef Flowers cooked a delicious breakfast and made our way over to the Amphitheatre. Lovely reef with a lot to offer, a break taking wall and vivid marine line. Along sting rays, we saw a turtle, stingrays, reef sharks, a green moray eel, barracudas, and plenty of reef fish. Over lunch we set sail for Magic Mushroom at West Caicos, for our afternoon and night dives, over there the ocean great us with more sharks, lobsters, Chanel crabs, groupers, a moray, squid and even a great big Eagle
Ray coming to join us.
Tuesday Jan 9th
As the first rays of light illuminate the horizon, we set off to Spanish Anchor for our morning dives. The wall drop-off here was just beautiful and allowing us to explore numerous overhangs were fascinating sea creatures sought shelter. Our underwater journey rewarded us with sighting of elusive lobsters, graceful stingrays, majestic reef sharks and mesmerizing spotted eels. Afterward, we continued our exploration in West Caicos, were we encountered Driveway, we encounter vibrant Nassau groupers, intricately shrimps coral banded, playful lobsters, a captivating school of blue tangs, of course, the ever-present sharks. As night fell, the world dazzled us with its mysteries, unveiling a magical display of octopi, graceful lionfish, graceful stingrays, delightful lobsters , an inking squid, and more awe-inspiring sharks.
Wednesday Jan 10th
Today, we embarked on a thrilling journey to Brand Wine for our morning dive. The underwater world greeted us with a magnificent marine life. Our guests were treated to an array of captivating creatures, including graceful hawksbill turtles, majestic Nur sharks, and the ever-elusive reef shark. Among the vibrant coral reefs, we encountered lively yellow fin groupers, and clever channel crabs. A highly of this dive was spotting a fascinating scorpionfish, blending perfectly with its surroundings.
In the afternoon, we relocated to Gullies, a dive site brimming with excitement. As we descended into the depths, we discover a hidden realm teeming with marine wonders. We encountered slumbering sharks, stealthy lobsters, and delicate Peterson shrimps. The sandy bottom revealed flounders camouflagic themselves seamlessly, while a magnificent school of barracudas mesmerized us with their synchronized movements. We were also fortunate to witness the graceful dan of spotted eels and the elegant glide of stingrays and cowfish.
As nightfall descended upon us, we embarked on a captivating night dive. The dark ocean took on an enchanting ambiance as curious reef sharks made their presence known, gracefully gliding through the water. The underwater landscape came alive with activity as channel crabs scuttled about, and the mesmerizing school of barracudas from earlier reappeared. The night dive treated us to the sight of nurse sharks and awe-inspiring eagle ray made a brief appearance, leaving us in awe of their grace and beauty.
Thursday Jan 11th
Thursday, July 11th, started with a magnificent breakfast as the first light of the day grace us. With Captain Jim at the helm, our morning dives took place at Elephant Ear Canyon, a breathtaking site offering something for all divers’ preferences. As we swam above the sandy top, we were surrounded by type graceful presence of sharks and rays, accompanied by the enchaining sight of garden eels, cowfish and a flounder.
The afternoon and our last night dive for the week took us to Coral Stairway, Amongst the vibrant wall’s formations, we encountered reef sharks, nurse sharks, Spanish hogfish, pufferfish, and the magnificent hunting octopus on the Night dive changing to all the most beautiful vibrant colors trying to catch a Soldier fish with no luck in the end..
It was a day filled with diverse marine encounters, adding to the unforgettable experiences of our liveaboard adventure.
Friday Jan 12th
On the final morning of our liveaboard journey, we embarked on an exhilarating dive at Coral Stairway, immersing ourselves in the vibrant underwater realm. As we descended, a world of wonders unfolded before our eyes. The majestic presence of sharks caught our attention, accompanied by the graceful movements of coral banded shrimp and lobsters. It was the perfect culmination of a week filled with extraordinary dives. After resurfacing, we navigated our way back to Turtle Cove Marina, where we indulged in a delightful cheese and wine party. Raising our glasses, we toasted to our Iron Divers and one Advanced student with the remarkable experiences we shared throughout the week.
